Terms of Use
The short version
- Be respectful. There is zero tolerance for abuse, harassment, illegal content, spam and impersonation.
- LanCall can’t call emergency services or phone numbers.
- On planes and ships, follow the crew and the network rules.
- LanCall may not work on every network. Calls need the app open on both phones.
- Purchases and refunds go through Apple.
1. About these Terms
These Terms of Use (“Terms”) apply to the LanCall app for iPhone. LanCall is provided by Eliyau Purian, an individual developer trading as Shabloool, based in Israel (“we”, “us”).
Your licence to use LanCall is granted under Apple’s Licensed Application End User License Agreement (the “Standard EULA”). These Terms add to the Standard EULA; they don’t replace it. If the two conflict, the Standard EULA applies to the extent of the conflict.
By using LanCall, you agree to these Terms. When you first open the app, you are asked to accept the community rules. If you don’t agree, don’t use LanCall.
Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle data. In short, the app collects none.
2. Who can use LanCall
LanCall is intended for people aged 13 and over. If you are under the age of majority where you live, you need permission from a parent or guardian.
3. Your licence and purchase
- LanCall is a one-time purchase on the App Store. Apple sells it on our behalf and handles payment.
- You may use LanCall on Apple devices you own or control, as allowed by the Standard EULA and the App Store’s Usage Rules.
- You may not copy, modify, reverse engineer or resell LanCall, except where the law allows it.
- Refunds are handled by Apple. You can request one at reportaproblem.apple.com. Any legal right you have to cancel the purchase is handled by Apple under its terms.
4. Community rules
LanCall connects you to people nearby, including people you don’t know. To keep everyone safe, there is zero tolerance for objectionable content and abusive users. You must not use LanCall to:
- abuse or harass anyone, including threats, bullying, intimidation, stalking or hate speech that targets people for who they are;
- send or share illegal content, including any content that sexually exploits children, which we report to the authorities;
- send sexual content to anyone who has not clearly asked for it, or share intimate images of anyone without their consent;
- spam, including repeated or unwanted message requests, bulk messages or advertising;
- impersonate anyone, including crew, staff, officials or another passenger, or use a display name meant to mislead;
- encourage violence, self-harm or other serious harm;
- commit fraud or scams, or get people’s personal or financial information by deception;
- interfere with other people’s phones or networks, try to break LanCall’s encryption, or intercept other people’s messages or calls;
- break any law that applies to you, or the rules of the place or network you are using.
5. If you break the rules
LanCall has no servers or accounts, so we can’t see what you send and we can’t remove content from anyone’s phone. But breaking these rules has consequences:
- Other users can block you. Once blocked, you are refused instantly on their phone.
- Other users can report you to us. We respond to reports within 24 hours. We may give guidance to the people involved.
- Where the law requires it, or where someone’s safety is at risk, we cooperate with the police and other authorities.
- Under the Standard EULA, your licence to use LanCall ends automatically if you fail to comply with its terms.
- You may be responsible under the law for what you send, and the crew or operator of a ship, plane or venue may take action under their own rules.
Read more on our Safety page.
6. Your messages and calls
You are responsible for what you send and say in LanCall. You keep any rights you have in your content. We never receive it, so we don’t need or take any licence to it.
The people you talk to receive what you send. They may keep it, screenshot it, record it or share it. Only send what you are comfortable with them having.
7. Not for emergencies
LanCall can’t call emergency services or regular phone numbers. Don’t rely on it in an emergency. Use your phone’s dialer, an onboard phone, or ask crew or staff for help.
8. Planes, ships and networks
- Use LanCall only where Wi‑Fi use is permitted.
- On planes and ships, follow crew instructions and the airline’s or ship’s rules for wireless devices.
- Follow the terms of any Wi‑Fi network you use.
- You are responsible for following these rules.
9. How LanCall works and its limits
- LanCall needs LanCall on both iPhones. It connects over a Wi‑Fi network when that network allows phones to reach each other. Otherwise it connects directly phone to phone over Apple’s peer-to-peer Wi‑Fi, with roughly AirDrop range.
- Many networks block phones from reaching each other, and direct links depend on distance and surroundings. We don’t promise that LanCall will work on any particular plane, ship, train, venue or network.
- Calls only ring while LanCall is open on both phones. Without internet, iOS can’t wake an app that’s closed.
- Messages to a phone that can’t be reached wait on your phone and are delivered when both apps are open and in reach. We can’t guarantee that any message will be delivered, or when.
- We may update LanCall, change features or stop supporting older iOS versions.
10. No warranty
To the extent permitted by law, LanCall is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind. We don’t promise that it will always work, be error-free or meet your needs.
Nothing in these Terms removes rights you have as a consumer under the laws of the country where you live, which can’t be excluded by contract.
11. Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by law:
- we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss, or for loss of data, missed or undelivered messages or calls, or the conduct of other users;
- our total liability to you for any claim related to LanCall is limited to the amount you paid for LanCall.
We don’t limit liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that can’t be limited by law.
12. Apple terms
These points apply because you got LanCall from the App Store:
- These Terms are between you and us, not with Apple. We, not Apple, are solely responsible for LanCall and its content.
- Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for LanCall.
- If LanCall fails to meet any warranty that applies, you can notify Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price to you. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation for LanCall. Any other claims, losses, liabilities, damages, costs or expenses caused by a failure to meet a warranty are our responsibility, to the extent the law makes anyone responsible.
- We, not Apple, are responsible for handling any claims by you or a third party about LanCall or your use of it. This includes product liability claims, claims that LanCall fails to meet a legal or regulatory requirement, and claims under consumer protection, privacy or similar laws.
- If a third party claims that LanCall or your use of it infringes their intellectual property rights, we, not Apple, are responsible for investigating, defending, settling and discharging that claim.
- You confirm that you are not located in a country subject to a U.S. Government embargo, or designated by the U.S. Government as a “terrorist supporting” country, and that you are not on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
- You must comply with any third-party terms that apply when you use LanCall, such as the terms of a Wi‑Fi network.
- Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms. Once you accept them, Apple has the right to enforce these Terms against you as a third-party beneficiary.
Questions, complaints or claims about LanCall should be sent to us at [email protected].
13. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms, for example when LanCall changes or the law changes. We will post the new version here and update the effective date. If a change is significant, we will say so on this website or in the app’s release notes. If you keep using LanCall after a change takes effect, the new Terms apply.
14. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Israel. This doesn’t take away any mandatory consumer protection you have under the laws of the country where you live, including the right to bring a claim in your local courts where that law allows it.
15. General
- If any part of these Terms can’t be enforced, the rest still applies.
- If we don’t enforce a right straight away, we don’t give it up.
- These Terms, together with the Standard EULA and our Privacy Policy, are the whole agreement between you and us about LanCall.
